The Maxis team have shared their favourite SimCity disasters on a blog post over at the EA website. Personally my favourite has to be either earthquakes or volcanoes. Sure they’re pretty standard, but I love the amount of destruction they bring and the sounds they make. Mwahahaha!

My favourite disaster type from SimCity has to be the Giant Monster attack, my favourite one being Servo the Robot attack in SimCity 4. I love sci-fi and giant robots, so naturally the robot attack stands out in my memory. Watching Servo fly into my city, unleash a wave of flying dishes on my poor Sims and then launching up into the sky to go terrorise some other poor city was a real “Wow!” moment for me. Maybe I’m a little twisted, but I can’t count how many cities I’ve built up only to tear down with a disaster. Wait until you see what we have planned in the new SimCity!
